Shohei Ohtani ( 大谷 翔平 ), a once-in-a-century baseball genius and two-sword pitching superstar, suddenly announced his marriage to a Japanese woman on February 29. The Los Angeles Dodgers star’s announcement came as a shock as he has closely guarded his private life. Last year, Ohtani made history when he signed a record-breaking 10-year, $700m (£552m) contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers – making him one of the world’s highest-earning athletes.
His spouse is believed to be a former basketball player Mamiko Tanaka ( 田中 真美子 ), who retired in 2023. She is 27 years old, 180 cm tall, and played for Fujitsu Red Wave ( 富士通レッドウェーブ ) in Women’s Japanese Basketball League. She is also a member of Japan 3X3 U-23 National Team.
